The summers are around the corner and you might have a lot of hair woes to battle with! The humidity and the sun’s harmful UV rays can really be harsh on your beloved tresses.
Here are 6 basic tips to protect your hair from the sun!
Wear a hat each time you parade in the sun. You don’t want your hair to bake and burn in the heat. Wearing a hat will protect your locks from the harsh sun rays. I’m more of a cap person. So yea, I pretty much don that when I walk around. It not just protects my hair, but also saves my skin from the harmful rays!
Hair updo’s are the best way to protect your hair. I have really long hair and I personally don’t think it’s wise to let my hair open in the sun. The humidity and the sun rays can really get too much. So I generally tie my hair up in a messy bun or wear a scarf around the head to add some style too!
Wash your hair with a mild shampoo often. There are myths about not washing your hair every second day. But hey! Washing depends on a few factors, like the health of your scalp, the weather conditions where you live, etc. So if you are in a really humid place, you must clean your scalp of all the dirt and grime. You don’t want to end up with an unhealthy scalp! Use a sulfate free shampoo to be mild and gentle on your hair.
Go easy on heated styling. The summers are already harsh on your hair, so it’s only sensible to avoid another 180 degrees of direct heat on your hair. Try styling only when needed. Like I’ve been ranting forever now, don’t forget to use a hair serum!
Let your hair soak in some pampering bliss all night. Go for a nice essential oil hair mask that you can keep over night. (more on it, coming soon!) It is very relaxing and will add moisture and life to your hair. If you don’t wanna keep it overnight, go for a pre-poo method. Either way, pamper your tresses.
Spray a leave-in conditioner to save your hair from the hot and humid harshness of the weather.
Drink lots of water or detox juices that will help keep your body hydrated at all times. It’s a no-brainer that drinking adequate amount of water throughout the day is indeed very good for your hair and skin. Read more here.
